The Power of Positive Thinking

A. Wilson Phillips, our Sr. Pastor, is the most positive person I have ever known. His own son once said, "Dad is so positive that he makes Norman Vincent Peale look suicidal."
Wilson attributes his positive outlook to his understanding of the gospel.

Divine Healing
|
|
Because our Father desires that we be whole spirit, soul, and body, understanding our covenant is the answer to being able to appropriate the blessing of Divine Health. Indeed, our healing, both spiritual and physical, comes from looking to and identifying with the crucified and resurrected Christ “by whose stripes we were healed.”
In Exodus 15:26, Scripture records, …If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.
“Heals” means to cure, heal, repair, mend, and restore health. Its participial form rophe, one who heals, is the Hebrew word for a doctor. The main idea of the word rapha is physical healing (Strong’s #7495).
In these 6 sessions, Wilson focuses upon this particular aspect of our blood covenant in order to bring balance and integrity to a message that has sometimes been wounded in the Church throughout the years.

The book of Hebrews was written not too many years before the 70 A.D., when Christ returned in judgment of the Jews with the destruction of Jerusalem. It was written to encourage the Hebrew Christians to stay the course and not return to Judaism, lest they be caught up in that judgment. When viewed from this perspective, the book of Hebrews comes alive with great application for living in Christ today. This sermon series is rich with teaching about our new covenant in Christ, which is "a better covenant based on better promises" (Heb. 8:6) than the the old covenant which had become "obsolete" and was "ready to vanish away" (Heb. 8:13).
